SIGNAL COMMERCIAL
November 25th, 2008
Signal and Director Jason Farrell shoot the final “Can’t Wait For Opening Day?” Commercial. Airing Now On Fuel TV.
The Lodge, CA – Signal teams up with Musician/Director Jason Farrell to create a campaign to get us all fired up for opening day. Limited budgets, tons of packing peanuts, and Jake Olson-Elm having to shave his face at least four times against his will, led to a creative campaign from a brand that is making a difference. The theme? While you’re at work dreaming of opening day, Signal has the dream job of building snowboards.
Signal’s Dream it, Build it, Ride it ethos was introduced to many this summer after Signal installed a rail feature in the back of their factory, the Lodge. Team, family, friends and retailers were invited to take a tour and see first hand how Signal designs, builds and tests boards all in a day.
Look for Signal’s commercials on Fuel TV through December, or you can view them at www.signalsnowboards.com/commercials. Thanks to Jason Farrell, Arlie Carstens and Jake Olson-Elm for the hard work, insight and dedication.
Now go watch it!

REVERSE CAMBER PATENT WAR
November 18th, 2008
Maybe not exactly a war. A battle may be the best way to describe the situation. Then again maybe not even battle describes it well. Lets say a wooden sword fight.
Many of us have watched the story of Reverse Camber Technology unfold. First it seemed to be yet another crazy idea that came out of the Lib Tech labs. Along with other tech such as Alter Genetics and Magne-Traction, both which have proven to be rather successful to Lib (Mervin). So to many industry insiders it is with no surprise to see the growth of Reverse Camber tech on so many boards by so many brands. It’s obvious that Reverse Camber is here to stay.
With this demand it’s obvious that companies will be developing there own reverse camber technology and applying patents to their masterpieces. This is where the battle begins. It seems as if Lib (Mervin) has a rather general description of what their patent applies to. The patent really comes down to this. If a board has rocker between the bindings they may be crossing the lines of Lib’s patent. Either Lib just got lucky on there description of what reverse camber was or are very smart.
The bottom line is maybe some of these other brands are stepping on Libs toes while making their own versions of reverse camber. For those with flat sections between the bindings it doesn’t seem to be effecting the progress of there development. Such brands as Signal can keep on trucking with their development as they’ve chosen a different path with a flat base between the bindings. Their is a host of options out there if you want reverse camber on your new shred stick. We suggest a Signal for obvious reasons! Just for fun we’ve put together a few pictures to describe a few of the selections that you can choose from.
